Wye River Project

The NPF Wye River Project, completed in 2005, was an intensive NPF Eyewitness to Peace communications program intended to promote a grassroots level exchange between Israelis and Palestinians (mostly in the mid-20's to mid-30's age range), addressing fundamentals such as cultural awareness, good communications skills, and the technological tools that offer the promise of a better future for youth.

The NPF project was a direct result of the Wye River Memorandum, an agreement negotiated between Israel, the Palestine Authority, and the U.S. to implement the earlier Interim Agreement of September 28, 1995. The Memorandum, brokered by the United States at the Aspen Institute Wye River Conference Centers near Maryland, established several "projects" that were defined in general terms to facilitate the agreement reached when the Memorandum was signed on October 23, 1998.

NPF facilitated, organized, and coordinated the longest-lasting project that included dialogue sessions between Israeli and Palestinian groups. While sustainable funding for the project proved to be a constant challenge, the Wye project was able to move forward with U.S. State Department funding and material and financial support from the Andreas G. Papandreou Foundation and the Delphic Union.
